Sagittarius New Moon Glides into the Solstice

Wise spiritual teachings guide us to live in the present. Right now, we almost have no choice. The past is floating in a Neptunian fog, and the future can feel like an Aquarian science fiction movie. We’re standing on a bridge during vast cosmic change, and it takes real effort to stay grounded, breathe, and let the new paradigm unfold.

And still, this Sagittarius New Moon on December 19 (5:44 pm PST) offers a bright, fiery dose of truth and wisdom, if we’re willing to listen.

This New Moon is at 28°24’ Sagittarius, close to the Galactic Center, the heart of our Milky Way. (For many of us “oldsters,” it was around 26° Sagittarius when we were born, and now it hovers closer to 27°). Very close.

Do you have planets or angles aligned with the core of the cosmos, suggesting a deep inner knowing, or even a role to play?

This New Moon also forms a tight, flowing sextile to the September eclipse point in late Virgo, a moment that carried its own kind of soul activation. Deeper service. Doing the work. Skillful, wise, quiet.

Today’s Moon can reflect a turning point in whatever was stirred in you then, along with a pivot toward the next step, likely to emerge more clearly with the eclipses in early spring.

Do you remember any new insights, decisions, or events arising around September 21?

Eclipses move us onto our soul’s path, whether we feel ready or not. When we’re prepared, an eclipse can feel like a key fitting into a lock, unlocking a pivotal step in life. When we’re clinging to old habits, repeating “I should…” without taking action, an eclipse may arrive as a surprising loss or an unexpected turn. Painful, yes, but it often clears the way for the next authentic step.

It would take pages to unpack all the threads of this potent lunation, but with Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius, you may receive fresh information, clarifying ideas, and a clearer sense of which relationships truly soothe your soul, and which connections support the life you’re stepping into.

No sooner do we touch this New Moon than we enter the quiet threshold of the Solstice early Sunday. The Sun moves into grounded, focused Capricorn, and the vibe feels beautifully split.

Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius keep the bigger vision alive, meaningful conversation, honest laughter, and a reminder that joy can be medicine, even in challenging times. Meanwhile, the Capricorn emphasis calls us to the slow, steady pace. Structure. Follow-through. One responsible choice at a time.

Vision plus patient effort becomes real, measurable success.

Let this New Moon help you launch your next steps, from the big picture into the solid path. One mindful step at a time. Breath by breath.
